We were tendered into South Queensferry to catch our tour busses. Some of us going to Edinburgh, others to St. Andrews.

St. Andrews is home to the University of St Andrews, the third oldest university in the English-speaking world, the oldest in Scotland and one of Britain's most prestigious.

St. Andrews Cathedral fell into disuse and ruin during the 16th century Scottish Reformation, after which Catholic mass was outlawed.

Old and Young Tom Morris' graves are on the grounds of St. Andrews Cathedral. Morris worked as a greenkeeper, clubmaker, ballmaker, golf instructor, and course designer, as well as playing match and tournament golf. He won the Open Championship in 1861, 1862, 1864 and 1867. He still holds the record as the oldest winner of The Open Championship at 46. Also, he was part of the only father/son couple being winner and runner-up.

The Old Course at St Andrews is one of the oldest golf courses in the world. The Old Course is a public course over common land. The greens fees are 250 pounds. In order to play you must win a lottery and play with strangers.

The Swilcan Bridgeis a famous small stone bridge in St Andrews Links golf course. The bridge spans the Swilcan Burn between the first and eighteenth fairways on the old course, and has itself become an important cultural icon in the sport of golf. The 700 year old bridge was originally built for sheep.
