From the port of Le Havre, our troop scattered in many different directions. Some toured Le Havre while others went to Paris, Normandy and Honfleur. Le Havre is the second largest port in France, located at the mouth of the Seine River. |

The excursion to Normandy included a stop at Arromanches, which was selected as one of the sites for two Mulberry Harbours built on the Normandy coast by the allies on D-Day. Sections of the Mulberry Harbour at Arromanches still remain today with huge concrete blocks sitting on the sand, and more can be seen further out at sea. |
This nine-meter tall stainless steel sculpture by Anilore Ban called "Les Braves" honors all those men who landed here on Omaha Beach to liberate France. |
Honfleur is located on the southern bank of the estuary of the Seine across from le Havre. It is especially known for its old, beautiful picturesque port, characterized by its houses with slate-covered frontages. |
